Paul Landis

Paul Landis was a Secret Service agent assigned to the JFK detail on November 22, 1963. Landis now claims in a 2023 book written for the sixtieth anniversary of the assassination that he found a whole bullet on the backseat of JFK's limo which he then dropped on his stretcher. Some conspiracy theorists believe this new revelation "destroys" the single bullet theory developed by the Warren Commission since Landis' story supports a non-transitioning bullet.

But Fred Litwin and Gus Russo have found numerous inconsistencies and omissions in Landis' statements over the years. Most noteably, Landis never said anything about finding a bullet in his first two declarations to authorities following the assassination. His story later morphed into finding a bullet "fragment" before finally evolving into the tale he is now promoting through his book.

Author Gerald Posner is equally skeptical of Landis' story but says that even if he is telling the truth, it wouldn't invalidate the SBT.

Read these excellent articles and decide for yourself:

Gus Russo

Fred Litwin (there are now several articles at Litwin's site regarding Landis)

Gerald Posner

I say if Landis didn't mention anything about finding a bullet 60 years ago, it almost certainly didn't happen.
